The Scenic Route's schools' programme launches this Autumn with a touring version of our acclaimed children's show You Beautiful Ewe and further shows will be on offer for the new year….
The Scenic Route is passionate about the introduction of theatre to children at a young age. The magic, imagination, excitement and wonder of live theatre alone is an experience all children should have access too, but the ability of theatre to educate and inspire is also undeniable.
Here at The Scenic Route we aim to produce theatre for schools that meets key literacy objectives and supports the primary creative curriculum, whilst creating enthralling and entertaining high quality theatre. Our shows principally focus on storytelling and illustrate how song and music can be used to communicate plot, emotion and character. Inevitably varying narratives and topics are discovered en route in each show. Please visit show descriptions for more detail.
The Scenic Route's Artistic Director Tammy Mendelson and Resident Musical Director Nick Pegden have a combined 13 years of experience working specifically with the performing arts and music with primary aged children, both within school and outside. We are therefore aware of the needs of each show in equal terms of education and practicalities.

*Are designed to fit comfortably in a school hall, even ones on the smaller side
*Are designed to be flexible within the space, allowing for a greater number of children to see the show at any one time.
*Meet literacy objectives and support the primary creative curriculum
*Can be booked with an additional supporting workshop that can take place in a hall or classroom
*Come with a complimentary teacher's pack with ideas for follow-up work
*Have a soundtrack that can be purchased to enjoy with the children following the show
Workshops…
Launching Autumn 2010…The Scenic Route can create a bespoke workshop for your primary school using storytelling through music and song to explore a topic of your choice. All workshops will be lead by musical theatre professionals. More details on their way shortly…
